Kidnapped person recovered

RAWALPINDI, May 26: A Pakistani expatriate, who was kidnapped from Westridge for Rs30 million ransom, was recovered following a police encounter with kidnappers on Thursday night.

A woman member of the kidnappers' gang Ms Rabia was arrested by the police. However, her two other accomplices managed to escape.

Chaudhary Iyaz, who was settled in the US, went to his under construction house near Taxila when he was kidnapped by some unidentified persons last week.

Afterward, the kidnappers contacted the victim's family and demanded Rs30 million ransom for his safe release. Somehow, the police managed to trace the kidnapper's hideout and planned to raid the house located in Dhoke Jujran, Westridge.

As the police official reached the spot, they had to face resistance from the kidnappers who opened fire at the raiding party.

After a brief shootout, the police party stormed the house and recovered the abducted person who was tied with the chains. Nobody was injured during the encounter.

The police arrested a woman along with her child. However, other kidnappers whose number was not known managed to escape.
