CIA police claim killing two kidnappers

LAHORE, May 20: The CIA police on Friday night shot dead two alleged kidnappers in an ‘encounter’ at Baghbanpura.

The deceased were identified as Ali Shan and Muhammad Asim who were wanted by the police in a kidnap for ransom case registered with the Qila Gujjar Singh police station.

The police claimed the two persons had kidnapped salesman of spare parts Shahzad Akram for Rs500,000 ransom three months ago when he was going to his shop from his house at Mustafaabad.

The police alleged that the suspects had strangled the kidnapped youth and threw his body in a drain near Mozang despite taking Rs200,000 from his family.

Meanwhile, the police arrested Ali Haider who told them that his two accomplices were hiding in a factory located in Lakhuder of Baghbanpura.

A handout issued on Friday night said the CIA police conducted raids at the said location for the arrest of the gangsters who opened fire on the police, which was retaliated. During a shootout, it said, the two gangsters -- Ali Shan and Asim -- were killed.

Ali Shan was a relative of Shahzad Akram, the handout said.
