Six killed as drone hits car in North Waziristan

MIRAMSHAH, May 20: Six people were killed when missiles fired by a US drone hit their car near a security check post in the North Waziristan Agency on Friday, officials said.

They said that two missiles were fired at the vehicle going from Miramshah to Spelga village. According to local people, missiles slammed into the car near Esha Check post on the main road.

An official said that the car caught fire after the attack and six people on board were killed.

The official said all the deceased were residents of the area.

This was seventh drone strike in North Waziristan this year in which over 45 people have been killed.

AFP adds: “A US drone targeting a militants’ vehicle fired two missiles killing four militants,” a security official said.

Another local security official confirmed the strike and casualties, saying the identity of those killed in the attack was not immediately known.
