Arrest warrants of US national issued

PESHAWAR, May 18: A local court on Wednesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants of a US national, Aaron Mark DeHaven, who had left the country on the orders of the federal government.

The court of judicial magistrate, Qudratullah Marwat, fixed June 6 for next hearing with the direction to the local police to produce the accused facing trial for illegal stay. The accused left Pakistan on May 14 as the federal government had not extended his work visa and the interior decision had issued him directives to leave the country before May 18.

During previous hearing the defence counsel, Sardar Ali Raza, had filed application for exemption of the accused from personal appearance, but the court had turned down that request.

When the court took up for hearing the case, the counsel informed the judge that the accused had left the country in accordance with the directives of the government.—Bureau Report
