PSF leaders booked for causing disturbance

TIMERGARA, May 12: Balambat police registered a case against four leaders of People’s Students Federation (PSF) on Thursday for causing disturbance in postgraduate college, Timergara, police told this correspondent.

Sources said that the college administration on Wednesday called the leaders of all student organisations and asked them to avoid wall chalking in and around the college.

They said that all the federations agreed with the college officials on the occasion, but at night the PSF workers smashed windowpanes of the college gates, fired shots in the air and held a protest against the administration. They also exchanged hot words with senior staff of the college, the sources claimed and added that police were called to the college on Wednesday night.

The Balambat police took 20 PSF workers and leaders of the federation into custody. However, those nominated in the FIR included PSF divisional president Alam Zeb Utmani, district president Fazal Hussain, Timergara college president Suhail Nawab and senior vice president Najibullah.

KIDNAPPED: Unknown people kidnapped a constable of Balambat police station, Arshad Iqbal, from Timergara city on Thursday, police and relatives told this correspondent.

They said that Mr Iqbal left the station for his home at Yar Khan Banda at 2pm, but after half an hour he sent a text message that he had been kidnapped from Timergara.

“His mobile phone is off since then,” a police official said and added that all checkposts had been alerted and a search was underway.

Two weeks ago a trader of Timergara, Mohammad Ali, was kidnapped and his body found a day after in Arang area of Bajaur Agency.

CALL FOR UNITY: The PML-N district organiser Bahram Shehzada has said that all political parties should take a united stand on the foreign forces action in Abbottabad and warn the US not to repeat such mistakes.

In a statement on Thursday, the PML-N activist said that the US commandoes were attacking sovereignty of the country while the president and prime minister were engaged in efforts to prolong their rule.

He termed the US forces’ operation as attack on Pakistan.
