Kidnapped doctor’s body found

CHAKWAL, May 12: A body buried in March this year by Kallar Kahar police as unidentified on Thursday turned out to be Dr Jamshed Iqbal’s, who was kidnapped from his clinic, police and relatives said.

“We found the body packed in a sack on March 6,” said Safdar Abbas Ranjha, SHO Kallar Kahar police station.

The family recognised the body through its picture circulated in police stations and the clothes of Dr Iqbal, who was kidnapped on February 28 by five armed men from his clinic in Talagang city.

According to the helper at the clinic, two men came to the clinic pretending to be patients. They left the clinic but returned with three other accomplices and took away Dr Iqbal, along with his car.

Police found the doctor’s car on a deserted road near Dharabi village. A police official, requesting not to be named, said the doctor was strangled to death.

In a hurriedly called meeting, the local chapter of Pakistan Medical Association has condemned the killing and declared three-day mourning. —A Correspondent
