IGP’s relative robbed

RAWALPINDI, May 8: Two young men deprived a sister-in-law of Punjab police’s chief of gold jewellery on Saturday night, police said.

As the sister-in-law of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Javaid Iqbal and her son, Farid ur Rehman, reached a relative’s home in Faisal Colony, they were intercepted by the young men.

“I was parking car while my mother was walking towards the house’s gate when another car appeared and two young men got out of it,” the IGP’s nephew said. One of the young men asked his mother to give up the gold jewellery and the other hit him in the head with the butt of gun.

The gunmen took away gold bangles, earrings, necklace, cellphone and purse containing cash. Mr Farid said the robbers escaped in their car.—Staff Reporter
