3 booked in student murder case

PESHAWAR, April 28: Three real brothers have been charged in the murder case of Shaukatullah, an M.Phil student of Peshawar University, who was found slaughtered in the room of a local hotel here on April 24.

A police source said that Azmaullah, a brother of the victim, had nominated Mateeullah, Hayatullah and Razaullah, all real brothers, in the FIR. The victim and the accused belong to Bannu district.

The official quoted the complainant as saying that the accused were their relatives but they had some domestic differences. He said that the student had booked room No.212 in Paradise Hotel, located near Sunehri Masjid Road, where he stayed alone.

“He had told the hotel's staff that he was expecting a relative but he did not disclose the guest's name,” the source said, adding that the guest came at a time when the hotel's employees left the reception owing to loadshedding.

He said that it was impossible to slaughter a healthy man in such a short time but the accused might have given him some intoxicants before killing him.

Bawar Khan, the investigation officer concerned, when contacted, said that police were trying to arrest the accused as early as possible but they had not succeeded so far.

He said that the employees of the hotel were also responsible for the negligence as they did not confirm name and address of the person, who came to meet the student in the hotel's room.

“Yes, it is the duty of hotelier to ensure security to its clients and timely inform police in case of any problem,” he added. He said that actual story could be known after the arrest of the accused.
