Watchman killed in robberyATTOCK, April 25: Another watchman was killed and four shops were looted in Pindigheb within a week forcing the traders and people to stage protest which suspended traffic on the three highways linked with each other.

When traders of Chandni market came on Monday to open their shops, they found market's watchman Mohammad Rafique lying in a pool of blood while locks of four shops of Mohammad Asghar, Sajjad, Mian Mohammad and Mohammad Ali were broken.

This created panic among the traders and they gathered at the site and started chanting slogans against the police failure to control raising trend of murder and robbery incidents in the jurisdiction of Pindigheb Police station. —Correspondent

Martyred policemen’s familiesISLAMABAD, April 25: Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM) will give Rs5,000 per month to families of policemen who have died in the line of duty.

Addressing a cheque-distributing ceremony on Monday at Police Lines Headquarters, PBM’s Managing Director Zamurad Khan also announced to educate the children of these policemen in the best educational institutions.

Addressing the ceremony, Islamabad’s IGP Wajid Ali Khan Durrani said 43 men of Islamabad police have lost their lives in the fight against terrorism. He said police across the country had fought valiantly against terrorists. Mr Durrani added that terrorists were on the run due to the efforts and sacrifices of policemen. —Staff Reporter

Fake currency machineRAWALPINDI, April 25: Fake currency notes printing machine was seized and five members of a gang of ‘swindlers’, were arrested on Monday.

“Though the mastermind of the swindler’s gang involving in more than 45 cases and desperately wanted by the police managed to escape during the police swoop, his junior Sardar Masood was arrested and fake currency valuing Rs855,000 was recovered from him,” assistant sub-inspector Muhammad Tahir who was leading the raid revealed.

The ASI said the mastermind of the gang had been desperately wanted by the police as he had been involved in more than 45 such cases and several innocent people had already been fallen victim of his tricks. —Staff Reporter
