Crossfire over land dispute claims life

LAHORE, April 20: A 30-year-old man was killed and five others were injured on Wednesday after two rival groups traded fire over a property dispute in Green Town, police said.

Haji Younas, of Gulshan Colony, and his sons exchanged words with Javed Virk and his men at a disputed plot which led to crossfire.

The firing left Javed and his fellows Nadeem and Saleem injured while Younas and his two accomplices Adeel and Zain Tauqeer also suffered wounds. Later, Nadeem succumbed to his wounds at Jinnah Hospital.

Younas alleged that Javed and his men had erected boundary wall on his plot with the connivance of Green Town police. Police, however, refuted the allegation.

SHOT DEAD: A 25-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by his elder brother over domestic scuffle in Chand Park of Shalimar on Wednesday.

Police said Aslam shot Ashfaq to death after the latter treated his mother rudely. : A 27-year-old man was killed while another seriously injured in a motorcycle-pick-up collision near Alkhan Hotel in Shahdara on Wednesday.

Quoting witnesses, an Edhi volunteer said the pick-up driver violated one-way rule and collided with the motorcycle.

The pick-up driver sped away soon after the incident, leaving the motorcyclists injured.

The injured were shifted to Mayo Hospital where Tayyab of Shaukat Colony, Shahdara, died of wounds. His pillion Sajid is under treatment.
