ACE arrests engineer

OKARA, April 12: Anti-Corruption Establishment officials on Tuesday held an executive engineer (district officer, roads) while receiving bribe from a contractor.

Reports said Farooque, a construction contractor, complained to ACE Deputy Director Rana Khalid Mehmood that DO (Roads) Ashraf Naeem was demanding Rs35,000 from him as bribe for giving approval to some bills.

Acting on the complaint, Mr Mehmood along with a team of ACE personnel nabbed the engineer red handed while he was receiving the amount at a local restaurant.

A case was registered against the accused.
