Lawyer killed

LARKANA, April 12: A senior lawyer was killed in Warah on Tuesday when he was going to attend hearing of a case.

Three unidentified assailants shot Nazeer Ahmed Khuhawar dead at the main bus terminal of the town and escaped on foot.

Sources linked the killing to an old enmity over murder of Maqsood Chandio, son of Sartaj Chandio who is a central leader of the Awami Tehreek in Warah.

The incident strained relations between two groups of people belonging to the Chandio and Khuhawar communities.

Asif Raza advocate, nephew of the victim, registered a case under Section 302, 109 and 34 PPC with Warah police station. He nominated Manzoor Ali Marfani, former taluka nazim of Warah Sartaj Chandio, Sultan Chandio and Hazoor Bakhsh Chandio. The name of Tharo Khan Marfani was nominated for abetting in the crime.

No one was arrested till Tuesday evening. Condemning the incident, lawyers boycotted the court proceedings in Larkana, said Qadir Bakhsh Bhatti, vice president of District Bar Association.

He said lawyers would continue boycotting proceedings for two days and announced mourning for three days. He urged police to arrest killers of the lawyer in two days.
