7 booked for tampering with land record

MARDAN, April 11: The anti-corruption department on Monday registered a case against seven persons including a former revenue department employee for allegedly making changes in the land record of secretary, establishment, Ataullah Khan Toru.

The anti-corruption department received an application from assistant secretary establishment, seeking action against the accused including a former head clerk of the settlement office in the revenue department Mohammad Pursan, Sher Bahader, Mohammad Shafiq, Riaz Ahmad, Zawar Hussain, Muslim Khan and Mohammad Javed.

The anti-corruption inspector Shah Hussain Khan told Dawn the said persons had tampered the Khasra numbers of the land record of Secretary, Establishment, Ataullah Khan Taru, and transferred 25 kanal and 5 marlas of land in their names.

He said a case had been registered against the accused and efforts were underway to arrest them. SHOT DEAD:

A man was shot dead and another was injured over a petty dispute in Dosehra Chowk on Monday, police said.

The city police station officials said Iftikhar, Ilyas, Sohail Jan and Sani opened fire on Fayaz and his colleague Ikram after exchanging harsh words with them over a money issue. Fayaz was killed on the spot

The locals said the accused escaped after committing the crime. The police ledged FIR against the accused on the complaint of injured Ikram. PROFITEERS FINED:

Eleven shopkeepers and venders were arrested and fined on Monday for overcharging and not displaying government pricelist at their shops.

The officials of revenue, food, and police departments, in a joint move, raided various shops, restaurants, meat, milk-selling and fruit-vending outlets on Bank road, and in Bekat Ganj and Gaju Khan bazaars. They fined the profiteers and sent them behind bars. The action was taken on public complaints.
