Warrant out against Mirpurkhas DCO

KARACHI, April 2: An accountability court on Saturday issued a non-bailable warrant for the arrest of a district coordination officer (DCO) for not appearing in court despite receiving notices asking him to depose in a corruption reference.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Sindh, had filed a reference in 2009 against Lutf Kalhoro and Lubna in a case pertaining to the illegal allotment of government land.

The DCO of Mirpurkhas, Ghulam Hussain Memon, was an approver in this reference and the court had been issuing notices to him for several months with the direction to appear in court and record his statement. However, he did not turn up.

Judge Syed Kausar Ali Bukhari of the Accountability Court-II on Saturday issued the non-bailable warrant for the DCO's arrest and directed the NAB to produce him in court till April 4.

According to the reference, four acres of government land was unlawfully allotted to certain people in Gadap.

The DCO held the office of the assistant commissioner of the town at the time the allotment took place.
