Two killed over land

ISLAMABAD, April 1: Two persons, including a villager were gunned down and two others injured in exchange of fire between two groups trying to occupy a piece of land in capital's rural area on Friday, police said.

The police said the two persons – a villager and a security guard – were killed in result of cross firing, between the villagers and the land mafia.

However, sources in the police said that the police, under the influence of the land mafia, are trying to implicate the villagers in the murder of their security guard.

The sources said that dozens of persons armed with sophisticated weapons attacked the villagers while they were returning to their houses after ploughing the fields.

The villagers ran to save their lives when the attackers cordoned off them and started thrashing them. When the villagers put up resistance, they opened fire on them.

During the firing two villager suffered bullet injures and one of them, Zulfikhar Hussain, killed on the spot. Some villagers approached the area police, but the law enforcers did not reach the spot. The attackers remained there for over half and hour.

The sources said that land measuring acres was the reason behind the dispute between the villagers and the land mafia and both were claiming its ownership.

The Koral police when contacted said that no one had approached them for the registration of the case over the incident.
