DADU March 31: Police on Thursday rescued two men from the clutches of dacoits and arrested five members of the gang in Punhoon Khan Chandio village, Mehar taluka.

Police recovered Muzammil Narejo and Rizwan Mirani who were kidnapped a month back from Thariri Mohbat town and arrested five dacoits of Gulzoo Chandio and Manzoor Patojo gang, during a search operation.

DPO Dadu Javed Soonharo Jiskani said that the encounter ensued as police were busy in house-to-house search for the recovery of kidnapped men.

Constable Zaman Bhatti and dacoit Majid Ali Chandio received bullet injuries and police arrested Majid Ali Chandio, Mohammad Ali Chandio, Deedar Chandio, Irfan Chandio and an unidentified dacoit, he said.

Two Kalashnikovs, one rifle and one double-barrel gun and 200 live bullets and cartridges were also recovered from their possession.
