Man gunned downMUZAFFARABAD, March 29: A 28-year old person was gunned down in a suburban area of Rawalakot on Tuesday.

The police sources said that old feud appeared to be the cause of the murder.

Farhan Resham son of Resham Khan was shot dead allegedly by Irfan Khurshid son of Mohammad Khurshid in Kotehrra village. Police were hunting for the alleged killer who fled the scene after the crime. —Staff CorrespondentBody recovered

ISLAMABAD, March 29: The remains of a body were recovered from the hilly area of Loi Dandi on Tuesday, police said.

Some passersby spotted the remains of the body and informed the Secretariat police. The police party reached the spot and shifted the body to the hospital for legal process.

The victim appeared to be in his early 40s was yet to be identified. However, the body had got so decayed that it could not be identified. ATTOCK, March 29: A body of an unknown elderly woman was recovered from the Ghazi Brotha Hydropower water channel by the local police on late Monday evening.

Police sources said that on information from some locals, the Police recovered the body of about 65-year-old woman from the Ghazi Brotha Hydropower channel and shifted it to the DHQ hospital for postmortem. Later, the body was buried unclaimed at a local graveyard. Attock Saddar Police station registered a murder case against unknown killers as it was revealed in the preliminary investigation that the woman was killed somewhere else and the body was thrown in the channel later on.—Correspondent35kg tumour removedMUZAFFARABAD, March 29: An enormous tumour weighing 35kg was removed from the abdomen of a patient by the surgeons of Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences here on Tuesday.

Naziran Bibi, 40-year-old mother of eight from nearby Khun Bandway village, was out of danger, Dr Raja Ijaz Ahmed Khan, one of the two surgeons who conducted the three-and-a-half-hour surgery, told Dawn. He said she would be discharged from the hospital after a week.The patient had been facing the problem for the past six years but lately her condition had started deteriorating, he said.

After removing the tumour, the team also carried out second part of the surgery and her goitre weighing between 10 to 12kg was also removed. Dr Khan said for the first time such a huge tumour was removed from any patient in Muzaffarabad. —Staff CorrespondentUBL Sihala branch looted

ISLAMABAD, March 29: One million rupees were looted from the United Bank Sihala Branch by a gang of robbers on Tuesday, the police said.

The police said that seven persons entered the UBL Sihala Branch and held hostage the employees and the customers at gunpoint. The culprits also manhandled two security guards of the bank when they put up resistance.

Later, they asked the cashier and the bank manager to hand them over the available cash which was one million rupees as was described by the bank officials later. After looting the bank, the culprits escaped from the spot on foot.

Later, the police were informed which arrived at the spot and started collecting the evidences from the spot. Besides, the law enforcers recorded the statements of the bank officials to get details of the culprits. —Staff Reporter
