‘Find a volunteer in you’ISLAMABAD, March 28: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has started a campaign: “Find a volunteer in you” to further boost the community volunteerism among the youth of the country for selfless service to needy without discrimination of class, colour and creed.

The weeklong National Youth and Volunteer Camp organised by the PRCS concluded here on Monday. In the camp, the volunteers were trained by experts to meet the challenges and prepare the community in their respective areas in case of flood during the coming monsoon. The youth and volunteer camp was attended by youth and volunteers from all over the country that include male and female representation from FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. —A Reporter

Ethics in law practiceRAWALPINDI, March 28: Justice (retired) Wajih-ud-Din Ahmed on Monday called upon the lawyers to keep distance from judges and advised the judges against using government machinery to establish transparency and trust in dispensation of justice.

He was delivering lecture at High Court Bar Association (HCBA) on the topic Professional Ethics.

A good number of lawyers and under-graduate law students of different institutes of Rawalpindi and Islamabad attended the lecture.

The retired judge urged the law practitioners to remain away from the bench and try not to influence the court verdicts by means other than preparing the case and arguing it well before the court. —Our Reporter

Suicide attemptISLAMABAD, March 28: An alleged member of auto-thieves gang on Monday tried to commit suicide at Aabpara police station by slitting his throat with a piece of window pane, police said.

The accused Syed Farhat Abbas was arrested by Aabpara police from Lahore and brought to Islamabad for interrogation in connection with his alleged affiliation with a 10-member auto-thieves gang.

Later, the accused was shifted to hospital where he was provided medical assistance, including multiple stitches on his wounds. —Staff Reporter

Fumigation driveTAXILA, March 28: The Hassanabdal tehsil municipal administration (TMA) in collaboration with health authorities has launched fumigation drive to prevent spread of malaria and dengue fever.

According to a local administration announcement here on Monday, all the urban areas, schools, markets and particularly sewerage lines in will be sprayed. —Correspondent

Absconding UTP arrestedATTOCK, March 28: An absconding under trial prisoner (UTP) involved in a double murder case was arrested by the Attock city Police.

The UTP escaped when he was brought to the district Katchery some two months back on January 21.

He was arrested along with his brother Ibrar Ahmed for killing Mohammad Akram and his son Mohammad Azmat outside the district court. —Correspondent
