`Negligent` doctors, nurse booked

MIRPURKHAS, March 27: An orthopaedic surgeon, three doctors and administrator of a private hospital were booked on Saturday evening for professional negligence causing the death of a patient.

Mohammad Yousuf Unnar lodged a complaint with the Town police against Surgeon Dr Mohammad Rafique Joyo, Dr Basheer, Dr Khalid, Dr Gopal Das, administrator Abdul Latif Memon and staff nurse Ms Nasreen of the Ali Medicare Hospital.

The complainant said that his mother Ms Khatoon, 70, was admitted to the hospital where Dr Joyo operated upon her fractured leg.

Mr Unnar alleged that the surgeon's negligence caused excessive bleeding. The doctor recommended blood transfusion but staff failed to arrange the blood. After the patient was shifted in the ward, its automatic door was stuck by air-lock and remained close for two hours with the patient and her attendant son confined inside.

After about two hours, the administrator broke the lock of the door but by that time, Mr Unnar said, her mother had died.

He blamed the ward doctors, staff nurse and administrator responsible for closure of the door.

The FIR was registered on the intervention of the Mirpurkhas DPO.
