4 US ‘spies’ killed in North Waziristan

MIRAMSHAH, March 21: Militants shot dead four alleged US spies, an Afghan national among them, in the North Waziristan Agency on Monday, sources said.

One body was found along a road in Datakhel, two in Dosali and the body of the Afghan national was recovered from a place in Mirali. Notes found near the bullet-riddled bodies said that since these people were working for America they deserved such treatment.

The sources said that the four men were kidnapped from different areas of the agency about two weeks ago.

Usually, the Taliban interrogate ‘spies’ in their detention centres and then circulate in local markets CDs containing their statements. Such CDs are available at various shops in Miramshah and other parts of the volatile agency.

Since January, 17 alleged spies have been killed.

Militants often kill the alleged spies after a drone attack.

In a rare reaction, Pakistan condemned Thursday’s strike by the US drones in the area in which over three dozen people attending a tribal meting were killed.

CHILD KILLED: A child was killed and a man and a woman were wounded when security forces opened fire during curfew near Miramshah on Monday.

A convoy was going from Miramshah to Datakhel when, according to local people, a man riding a motorbike appeared on the bypass road during the curfew.

The security forces opened fire, leaving the man on the bike, a child and a woman injured. They were taken to hospital where the child, identified as Jalil, died.

Curfew was imposed in Miramshah, bypass road, general bus stand and Datakhel since morning. Authorities impose curfew when a military convoy moves from one area to another.
