Bridegroom held after joy fire claims life

FAISALABAD, March 21: Jaranwala Saddar police on Monday arrested a bridegroom whose one of the friends resorted to aerial firing, leading to the killing of a guest and injuries to two others at Chak 649-GB, Jaranwala.

The incident resulted in cancellation of the marriage. Reports said bridegroom Faisal's friend Bashir, a resident of Kasur, on Sunday resorted to aerial firing, leaving Abdul Majeed dead and injuring Jamil and Khalil.

The deceased was invited by the bride's family. The injured were shifted to Allied Hospital where their condition was said to be stable.

After the incident, the bridegroom managed his escape. However, the Jaranwala police arrested him on Monday and were conducting raids for the arrest of the remaining accused.

Jaranwala ASP Waheedur Rehman said Bashir used a pistol that developed some fault and bullets hit the guests.
