KSE, Turkish envoy discuss container train project

KARACHI, March 18: The matter of establishing Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul container train under Public and Private Partnership scheme was discussed between a delegation from Turkey and KSE board's major stock market players on Friday.

A press release issued by the KSE said that the Turkish delegation headed by M Babür Hizlan, Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan, in company with Prof Güven SAK, Executive Director Turkish Union of Chambers & Industries and Ahmet Ussal Sahbaz, Advisor to executive director visited the KSE on Friday.

The delegation held a meeting with Arif Habib, chairman Arif Habib Corporation, representative of AKD Securities, Members of KSE board and Haroon Askari, acting Managing Director-KSE.

The KSE statement said that the representatives of the ministry of railways, Infrastructure Project Development Facility (IPDF), Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Custom Syndicate, representatives of the consultants & lead manager/advisors to the public issue were also present on the occasion.

M Babur Hizlan was stated to have said that the project would have major beneficial impact on economic growth and development of all three countries by increasing the trade volume and reducing the cost of doing business.

Arif Habib endorsed the ambassador's views on the beneficial effect of the project and indicated his interest to participate fully in the successful implementation of the project. Haroon Askari, acting managing director KSE presented a brief overview of Pakistan's economy, highlighted the viability of the project under Public-Private-Partnership and presented a detailed outline and follow-up step for the implementation of the project.
