I am frustrated at team’s approach: Wasim

COLOMBO: Former captain Wasim Akram on Tuesday said he was not satisfied with the performance of Pakistan in their win over Zimbabwe. “I want this team to win the World Cup and they can do it.

Every Pakistani wants the team to win the tournament but their approach is frustrating,” he said in an interview.

“Every side that Zimbabwe has played outclassed them but our team approached the game as if they were nervous and scared,” observed Wasim.

“Our players need to adopt a more pro-active approach and show natural aggression. You can’t win the World Cup with a defensive mindset and I am frustrated that we didn’t beat Zimbabwe more convincingly. This was our chance to send out a clear signal to the other teams,” he added.

The former captain also said that the Pakistan team management needs to work out key issues, give confidence to the players and make right changes to bring the best out of the team.—Agencies
