Disabled man freed from illegal confinement

THATTA, March 11: The Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate of Mirpur Bathoro, Shakeel Molani, raided a police residential quarter in Mirpur Bathoro and recovered a disabled labourer from wrongful confinement on Friday.

The raid was conducted on the directive of district and sessions judge Thatta.

The SHO of Mirpur Bathoro police station was summoned by the court on March 14 with documentary evidence to prove confinement of the labourer, if any.

The directives had been issued on an application moved by Ali Hassan Brohi, uncle of the boy.

The labourer, Subhan Ali Brohi, 24, told journalists that

the then DPO of Thatta Pir Fareed Jan Sarhandi had ordered his arrest on instigation of a local influential person. He said police tortured and kept him in wrongful custody.

He claimed that the police repeatedly threatened to kill him in a managed encounter after declaring him a bandit.ACCIDENT: A motorcyclist Mohammad Moosa Khushk died and his companions Ramzan Mallah and Haroon Khushk sustained injuries as a light truck hit them from behind at the bypass here on Friday.

Condition of Haroon Khushk is said to be precarious and was rushed to a Karachi hospital for treatment.

Driver involved in the accident escaped leaving the vehicle behind.
