Robber lynched but looted money is gone

MUZAFFARABAD, March 1: Three robbers looted over Rs600,000 from a state-owned bank in Bagh district on Tuesday.

However, one of the robbers was killed while another injured when a mob, gathered outside the bank, pelted them with stone. The injured was arrested by the police whereas the third succeeded in fleeing along with the booty.

According to police sources and witnesses, three armed person came on a motorbike and entered the Rangla village branch of National Bank at about 10:30 am and as they came out of the building with looted cash, they were greeted by the traders and residents of the area with stones.

In return, the dacoits also opened fire on the people which caused injuries to two persons, Abdul Rahim and Usman, one of whom was shifted to Islamabad.

Police have launched a hunt for the third robber, Hamad Khan, who managed to flee from the scene with the looted money.
