Two bodies found in city

RAWALPINDI, Feb 27: Bodies of a young man and a woman were recovered from different parts of the city on Sunday, police said.

The body of the young man, who is yet to be identified, was lying in a vacant plot along Tulsa Road.

Qazi Arshad, a passerby, informed the police about the body.

In his early 20s, the young man was shot dead somewhere else and his body was thrown in the plot. The body was removed to the DHQ Hospital for postmortem.

The body of the woman, who police believe was strangled to death, was found from woods of Ayub National Park. A security guard spotted the body and informed the police, which shifted it to the hospital for autopsy.

The investigating officer said the woman in her 30s was strangulated with headscarf (dupata) as it was wrapped around her neck when the body was recovered.

From her purse, police found a driving licence of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), issued to a man, Zakia Omer Raheem.

A letter addressed to the same man was also recovered.

The officer said the body seemed to be four days old. Police said nobody had so far claimed the body.
