Three held for making kites, twine

LAHORE, Feb 27: The police claimed to have seized a huge cache of kites, twine and other material and arrested three people during a raid on a storehouse in Shahdara.

According to a press release issued here, City Division SP Shahzad Asif formed a police team after he learnt that some people were making and selling kites and twine in the area despite a ban on the sport.

The police team raided a storehouse near Faisal Park and seized 100,000 kites, hundreds of chemical coated twine spools and a huge cache of material used in making kites and twine. The material seized from the storehouse was enough to make 50,000 kites.

During the raid, police also arrested Kite Flyers Association's vice-president Muhammad Hafiz, Ghulam Nabi and Zohaib, the press release said.

It further said the accused were making kites and chemical coated twine on a large scale and supplying these to customers in different areas of the provincial capital and other parts of the province.

The raid was carried out on the complaints of local residents. Shahdara police registered a case against the arrested men.
