Three hurt by rivals on court premises

LAHORE, Feb 24: Three people sustained injuries after their rivals attacked them with clubs and knives on court premises at Aiwan-i-Adl on Thursday.

Reports said Additional District and Sessions Judge Bushra Zaman was hearing murder case of a woman, Rabia, who had been killed for contracting marriage according to her will. Aijaz, Kalay Khan and Rana Arshad were nominated accused in the case and were present in the court for hearing.

As soon as the accused came out of the court after attending proceedings, three men identified as Tariq Khan, Burhan Khan and Abbas Khan along with their accomplices ambushed them, leaving them injured.

After receipt of information, Islampura police rushed to the spot but the attackers managed their escape by resorting to aerial firing.

Police have registered a case and are conducting raids for arrest of the assailants.

FIRE: Furniture and other valuables were gutted when a fire broke out in a portion of the Punjabi Complex in Qadhafi Stadium on Thursday.

Rescue 1122 and police officials said the fire erupted due to a short circuit in a generator. The fire engulfed the furniture and the stationery lying in a store and a room of the building. They said the firefighting squad of the Rescue 1122 reached the spot and extinguished the fire.

INJURED: Five youngsters, including two girls, were injured when their car met with an accident in Iqbal Town here on Thursday.

The police said Aysha, Zain, Hurmain, Raza and Asif were returning home by a car when it overturned near Asif Block due to high speed. Resultantly, all of them received injuries and were shifted to a local hospital where their condition was said to be stable.
