PPP decides to wait for PML-N’s decision

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People's Party on Thursday decided to hold cards close to its chest and wait for the PML-N's decision on a 10-point reforms agenda and expulsion of PPP ministers from the Punjab cabinet in its meeting due on Friday.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani held talks with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif amidst a brewing political crisis in the province.

The chief minister was accompanied by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Leader of Opposition in National Assembly and Senator Ishaq Dar.

Finance Minister Hafeez Sheikh also attended the meeting.

Sources privy to the meeting claimed that the sides discussed the future of the10-point reforms agenda and the political crisis in Punjab.

Gilani said that the PML-N is free to make any decision it wants and added that the ruling party wants to save the Charter of Democracy (CoD).

After holding a meeting with the Punjab chief minister, Gilani rushed to the Presidency to update Asif Ali Zardari about the recent developments.

During the meeting, both leaders decided not to take the first step in the current political crisis and to wait until the PML-N's decides about the fate of PPP ministers in Punjab.

Sources informed DawnNews that Gilani told Zardari that his meeting with Shahbaz was successful. Both leaders agreed to continue the politics of reconciliation.

The PML-N had threatened to expel the PPP ministers from the provincial cabinet if the federal government failed to implement its 10 -point reform agenda within the stipulated 45-days.
