Kidnappers get life

GUJRANWALA, Feb 21: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 on Monday awarded life-term to three accused on two counts each in a kidnap for ransom case.Judge Chaudhry Muhammad Mushtaq Gondal also ordered to forfeit properties of the three accused.

According to the prosecution, convicts Mudassar, Muzaffar and Ilyas Ahmad had kidnapped minor Ahmad Nasir in Sambrial on Nov 9 last year and demanded a Rs10 million ransom for his release.

The family paid Rs500,000, but the criminals did not release him. Later, the police arrested all the accused and recovered the boy.

BOOKED: A medical officer, the in charge of a Basic Health Centre, and a dispenser were booked for corruption at Ghakkhar Town on Monday.

Reports said Adilgarh's BHC medical officer Muhammad Ashraf and dispenser Muhammad Anser reportedly disposed of costly medicines, equipments and trees of the centre.

District Coordination Officer Nabeel Ahmad Awan got an inquiry conducted against the two officials and ordered to register a case against them when they were found guilty.
