Two men found shot dead

KARACHI, Feb 20: Two young men were found shot dead within the remit of the Sharea Faisal police station in the early hours of Sunday.

Police said that 32-year-old Ajaz Ahmed and 35-year-old Abdul Qayyum lived in an apartment in the Bambai Arcade in Block 13 of Gulistan-i-Johar.

Ajaz and Qayyum left home at midnight to meet someone, Sharea Faisal police station SHO Sohail Sulehri said.

Their bodies were found at around 4am at the backside of the Faraz Arcade in the same block about a kilometre away from their flat, the police officer added.

It seemed that they had been killed somewhere else and their bodies were dumped at the scene, the police said, adding that they were shot dead in the head.

The two men were frontmen of a builder — Farukah Mateenm, the builder of the Bambai Arcade. The builder had used fraudulent means and issued multiple files of each apartment of his project and had been jailed, the SHO said.

Lately, the builder had asked Ajaz Ahmed to take charge of the affairs.

Both the men had been nominated in four to five FIRs and they were also complainants in a few FIRs, the SHO added.

In December, last year there was an attempt on their lives, but the two men survived the attack, the police said.

An FIR (162/2011) was registered against unidentified people at the Sharea Faisal police station.
