Journalist tortured

LAHORE, Feb 17: Chuhng police on Thursday registered a case against 40 people and a traffic warden for thrashing a journalist of an Urdu daily and depriving him of his valuables.

Azam Chaudhry, who is also secretary-general of the Lahore Press Club, said some young men doing wheelies hit his car on Raiwind Road near Thokar Niaz Beg on Wednes-day evening. Two of them fell after the accident and were injured. After a few minutes, 35 to 40 people on cars and motorcycles turned up there and beat him ruthlessly.

Chaudhry said he was held hostage by the attackers at least for an hour along with his three children and was released on the intervention of their elders. — Staff Reporter
