Sajjad out, Imran advances at 6-Red Snooker Championship

ISLAMABAD: Highly-fancied Mohammed Sajjad of Pakistan collapsed in the first round of the inaugural Asian 6-Red Snooker Championship in Thailand when he failed to win even a single first round match in Group G.

Sajjad, who had won a large army of fans at the same venue seven months ago when he finished runner-up at the 2010 Asian Championship, lost his third match against Mohammad Lababi of Iran 5-4 (58-07, 40-07, 17-31, 39-13, 0-45, 09-40, 50-06, 0-49, 51-0).

At the end of the first round battles on Tuesday afternoon, Group G was topped by Yu Delu of China with the other three players marching ahead from the group being Nader Khan Sultani of Afghanistan, Au Chi Wai of Hong Kong and Mohammad Lababi of Iran.

However, Pakistan's top cuiest, Imran Shehzad defeated Mofazzal Hossain of Bangladesh 5-1 in his group match. The score remained (26-11, 32-20, 42-09, 58-07, 29-38, 42-07).
