4 officials, driver feared kidnapped

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Feb 14: Four officials of the Sindh Seed Corporation and their driver are feared to have been kidnapped from the National Highway near Qazi Ahmed on Sunday evening.

The corporation's director Agha Shahid, deputy directors Abdul Rahim Memon and Mohammad Sharif Khushk and assistant director Sadiq Memon left for Hyderabad in a car driven by Himmat Lal after attending a wedding ceremony in Khan Wahan but did not reach Hyderabad till late night.

Dr Mazhar Kalhoro, a friend of Agha Shahid, told Dawn that after leaving Khan Wahan they had a cup of tea at Al-Amin hotel in Moro from where they contacted Agha Shahid's brother Dr Agha Taj, on phone.

After one hour, they could not be contacted as their mobile phones remained switched off, he said.

DPO of Naushahro Feroze Farooq Ahmed Jamali said that Dr Taj informed police and they contacted Abdul Rahim's brother Abdul Rashid Memon and the uncle of the driver on phone who told them that they had lost contact with the missing persons after 8pm.

The DPO said that the car of the missing persons was later found abandoned near Thari Mirwah in Khairpur district.

Dr Taj said that they had not received any ransom call. No case was registered till late Monday evening. ACCIDENTS:

More than 10 people were injured in two road accidents on National Highway near Kotri Kabir on Monday.

A Sukkur-bound wagon hit an oil tanker due to low visibility caused by fog. As a result Manzoor Lashari, Madad Ali, Shahid Ali, Kamran and two others were injured. They belong to Lahore and Gujranwala.

They were taken to Kotri Kabir basic health unit but it was closed. Later, Motorway police took them to Khairpur.

In another accident, a bus overturned on the highway, leading to injuries to Danish, Shahida, Islam, Amir and two other passengers.
