KARACHI, Feb 10: The Sindh government has issued a notification terminating the services of its 43 re-employed / appointed officials on a contract basis with immediate effect.The services of these officers, who are among some 93 officers working on a contract basis after retirement, were dispensed with in compliance with a directive of the Supreme Court.

The apex court last month directed the federal and provincial governments that cases of all re-employed/ contractual appointees be reviewed inthe light of the Civil Servants Act and the Estacode — the volume of statues, policies, office memorandums etc and regulating civil bureaucracy.

The civil servants act clearly states that a retired civil servant shall not be re-employed unless such re-employment is necessary in the public interest while the Estacode conditioned reemployment to ensure 1: Non-availability of suitably qualified or experienced officers to replace the retiring officer. 2: The officer is highly competent person with distinction in his profession. 3: Re-employment does not cause a promotion block and 4: Retention of the retiring officer for a specified period is in the public interest.

According to the notification filed in the apex court on Thursday there are three officers of 21 grade, 13 of 20 grade, eight of 19 grade, 10 officers of 18 grade and one each of 17 and 16 grades. While six are consultants and one is a monitoring officer.

Grade 21: Syed Faisal Saud, Mohammad Qasim Lashari, Aftab Ahmed Qureshi.

Grade 20: Mohammad Laiq Zardari, Syed Sarfraz Ali Shah, Mehboob Alam Ansari, Abdul Malik Lakhmir, Manzoor Ahmed Hashmi, Collin Kamran Dost, Rasheed Alam, Shamsul Haq Jafrani, Abdul Quadir Mangi, Baz Mohammad Junejo, retired brigadier A.S. Nasir, Dr (Capt) Abdul Majid, Mohammad Hassan Memon.

Grade 19: Dr Haji Mohammad Memon, Javed Memon, Aijaz Ali Talpur, Pir Mohammad Abbasi, Khaliq Dino Mirani, Shaukat Ali Memon, Allah Bachayo Memon, Izhar Ahmed Dhakan.

Garde 18: Agha Ahsanullah, Suraya Usmani, Mohammad Hassan Dal, Nizamuddin Bughio, Naimatullah Phulpoto, Dr Irtiqa Hussain, Munawwar Ali Sial, Ghulam Akbar Memon, Mushtaque Ahmed Memon, Zubair Ahmad Mughal.

Grade 17: Aijaz Mohammad Khan.

Grade 16: Wahid Bux Chandio.

Consultants: Zulfiqar Ali Mirani, Mohammad Muslim Abbasi, Zafar Javed Hashmi, Arshad Saleem, Raziq Hussain Rabbani, Tahira Ali Brohi.

Monitoring officer: Dr Shafiq Ahmad.

The remaining re-hired officers’ cases were under review in the light of the directive of the apex court and soon their list would also be notified, sources said.
