Expat`s house robbed

LAHORE, Feb 8: Four armed men deprived the family of an Abu Dhabi-returned man of cash and gold ornaments during a house robbery in Islampura.

Only women were present in Parvez Rashid Khan's house when masked robbers barged in and looted them. They also roughed up a housemaid and her two sons.

The incident took place on Friday morning, but the police had not registered a case till the filing of this report on Tuesday night.

Parvez Khan told Dawn that two robbers barged in his Perveen-Parvez villa situated in Qazi Street on Chohan Road in Krishan Nagar and their two accomplices stood alert outside the house. The intruders held his family members and house workers hostage and robbed his wife her gold bangles, rings and locket. They later looted Rs200,000 and 4 tola gold ornaments.

Mr Khan said the robbers were well-informed as they guided his family members to some places in the house where valuables were kept. He said he had rented out the lower portion of his house, but the robbers looted his family alone.

Before leaving the house, the robbers damaged two cell phones and a landline phone set to stop the family from informing the police. They also took away SIM cards from the damaged cell phones. Police had not registered a case despite a lapse of five days, he said.

City Division SP Shahzad Asif said he had directed the Islampura police to register a case and trace the robbers.
