QUETTA: The coordination committee of seven political parties and a trade organisation has demanded of the government to stop a 'military operation' in the province and recover all missing people, including political workers and students.

The demands were made by the committee through several resolutions adopted at a seminar held at the Zarif Shaheed auditorium the other day on issues faced by Balochistan.

Those who addressed the seminar included: Dr Ishaq Baloch, Vice President of National Party; Usman Kakar, Provincial President of PKMAP; Sardar Asghar Achakzai, leader of ANP; Agha Hasan Baloch, leader of BNP-Mengal, Abdul Khaliq Hazara, President of Hazara Democratic Party; Abdul Mateen Akhundzada, Provincial Amir of Jamaat-i-Islami, Qasim Khan, Provincial President of Tehrik-i-Insaf; and Abdul Rahim Kakar, President of Anjuman-i-Tajiran, Quetta.

The seminar condemned extra-constitutional acts allegedly carried out by security forces such as arrest of political workers, their killing in detention and demanded immediate cessation of such incidents.

The seminar condemned target killing of the Baloch, Hazara, Pakhtun and people of other communities in different parts of Balochistan and demanded of the government to take strict action against elements involved in such criminal acts.

The meeting condemned bomb blasts and other subversive activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, mounting cases of kidnappings for ransom, highway robberies and other heinous crimes in different parts of the province.

The seminar asked the government to ensure protection of life and property of all people and carry out a crackdown against criminal gangs involved in such activities.

The seminar demanded arrest of criminals involved in sectarian killings in different parts of the province.

The seminar, through a resolution, asked the government not to interfere in the affairs of neighbouring countries and adopt a neutral foreign policy and let neighbouring countries resolve their problems themselves.

It also demanded withdrawal of increase in electricity and gas charges and restoration of subsidy on tube-well bills.
