Land dispute claims man`s life in Swabi

SWABI, Jan 20: A dispute over a piece of land claimed life of a person at Sherdara village here on Thursday, police said.

Registering an FIR against the accused Fawa Khan, brother of the deceased said that he along with his brother Said Hakim Khan and maternal uncle Shiraz Khan was on their way to home. When they reached the suburbs of their village the accused Changraiz Khan, Waheed Zaman and Hakim Khan opened fire on them.

As a result, he said, his brother Said Hakim Khan was killed on the spot and he and his uncle survived the attack. The accused, he said, escaped. He told police the incident was the result of an old dispute over a piece of land. FACTORY:

Jamaat-i-Islami has established a block manufacturing factory at Jahangira to help reconstruct about 20 houses for flood-affected families in the region.

The JI leaders on Thursday said Jahangira was worst affected as more than 400 houses were destroyed by the floods forcing the people to stay in educational institutions.

Saeed Zada, the JI district chief, said keeping in mind the needs of the people and their extreme frustration over the government failure to come forward they had decided to establish block making factory at Jahangira. DEATH ANNIVERSARY:

The 23rd death anniversary of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan was observed at Bacha Khan Primary School in Gadoon Amazai on Thursday. Minister for Social Welfare and Women Development Sitara Ayaz and other leaders spoke on the occasion.

Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, widely known as Bacha Khan, the Pakhtun nationalist leader and pioneer of the ANP died in January 1988 and was buried in Kabul.

Sitara Ayaz paid rich tributes to Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and said, 'if we uphold the non-violence philosophy of Bacha Khan it would herald a new era of progress and prosperity.
