Four outlaws arrested in Lakki raids

LAKKI MARWAT, Jan 15: Police have arrested four outlaws during a search operation launched in different localities of the district.

A police official said on Saturday that after receiving information about the presence of outlaws, district police officer Gul Wali Khan directed the police to take action. He said that separate police parties of Lakki, Naurang and Dadiwala police stations, headed by the respective SHOs, launched a search operation in Abakhel, Muhammad Ghaznikhel and Mash Masti Khan villages.

He said that four alleged outlaws, including Shah Nawaz, Mamoor Khan, Mohammad Amin and Muslimeen were arrested during the raids. The official claimed that these people were wanted to police in attempted murder, drug trafficking and other cases. OFFICE-BEARERS:

Muhammad Zubair Marwat and Muhammad Adeel were unanimously elected president and general secretary, respectively, of the Marwat Union of Journalists. In a meeting here on Saturday, the local journalists reposed confidence in Mr Zubair and Mr Adeel, who will nominate other office-bearers with mutual consultation. The meeting discussed matters concerning income and expenditure and rehabilitation of the union's office, which was damaged by Sept 6 suicide blast on Lakki police station.

The new president and general secretary vowed to ensure unity among local journalists.

Meanwhile, the local journalists observed a token strike to record their protest against targeted killing of a private channel reporter Wali Khan Babar. They reiterated that journalists would not compromise on conveying truth to masses.
