Gas supply cut after blast in Quetta

QUETTA, Jan 6: Gas supply to parts of Quetta was suspended after some saboteurs blew up a portion of gas pipeline in the Sariab area on Thursday.

According to police sources, some unidentified people planted an explosive device under the gas pipeline and blew it up.

The gas supply to the Habibullah power plant and some areas on the outskirts of Quetta city was suspended.

The sources said a five-foot portion of the 18-inch diameter main gas pipeline was damaged in the blast.

The Sui Southern Gas Company engineers started repair work and the gas supply was likely to be restored by Friday, the sources said.
