Mercury dips to 4°C in Nawabshah

NAWABSHAH, Jan 5: Cold snap intensified in Shahhed Benazirabad with mercury dropping to 4°C on Wednesday.

The district is known for its sizzling summer where temperature normally peaks to 52°C. However, during the last couple of years, cold is increasing with temperature dipping below the freezing point.

According to Munir Leghari of Met office, temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 4°C which may further drop in coming days. Daily activities were affected badly as people preferred to stay indoors.

Our Khairpur correspondent adds: Cold wave has increased in the last two days in Khairpur and other parts of the upper Sindh.

People prefer to stay indoors which has brought to a halt all trade activities.

Power outages and low gas pressure have further added to the miseries of people.

A rush of people from rural areas was seen at make-shift shops of warm clothes.

Fog also remained at its extreme which broke the record of last 10 years.
