‘Militant’ with hand grenade, pistol held

LAKKI MARWAT, Jan 1: Police arrested a suspected militant on Saturday and recovered a hand grenade and a pistol from him.

“A contingent of Tajori police station stopped a suspected pick-up van on Tajori link road for search”, an official source said. “As soon as the pick-up stopped three men alighted from it and tried to flee from the place”, the official added, saying, the cops chased them and caught one of them.

He said that two other suspects disappeared into the nearby mountainous area. Police seized a hand grenade and a pistol from the arrested militant and shifted him to undisclosed location for interrogation. Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested 79 outlaws and 20 gamblers in a search operation launched against the criminal gangs and anti-social elements.

“Police raided the hideouts of criminals, gamblers and drug peddlers in different parts of the district”, an official said. — Correspondent
