Robbers on looting spree

RAWALPINDI, Dec 27: Two pedestrians including a college student were robbed of cash and cellphones at gunpoint in Sadiqabad and Westridge areas on Monday, police said.

Aitzaz Abbasi, a college student, was on his way home after drawing Rs15,000 through automated teller machine (ATM) for his college fee when three motorbike riders intercepted him near Chandni Chowk and snatched the amount at gunpoint and escaped.

Abdul Baseer complained to the Westridge police that he was going home on his motorbike when three persons intercepted him and forced him to stop.

He said as he stopped his motorbike, the robbers put their pistols on his head and forced him to give up. Later, the robbers escaped with Rs22,000 and a cellphone.

A gang of three robbers forced their way into the house of Amin Ahmed in the Waris Khan Police area on Monday night, and held the inmates at gunpoint.

The gunmen snatched Rs8,000 in cash, one gold ring, one cellphone and also snatched away Amin Ahmed's motorbike (RIN-1420).
