Soldier killed in Khyber blast

LANDI KOTAL, Dec 13: A security man was killed and another injured in a bomb blast in Khyber Agency on Monday, officials said.

“The personnel of Khyber Rifles were taking food supplies on mules to border posts near Torkham when the incident took place,” they said.

They added that unidentified militant had planted an improvised explosive device on the mule track near Adalkhad. The device exploded when the Khyber Rifles personnel were on their way to the border posts.

Sepoy Murad Ali Yousafzai died on the spot while his colleague Imran Khattak received injuries in the blast. The injured soldier was shifted to military hospital at the army camp in Landi Kotal.

Security forces cordoned off the entire area and arrested about 20 local residents during a search operation after the incident. Political administration has registered a case against unidentified saboteurs and started investigations.
