Pakistan supports stability in Afghanistan: Gilani

KARACHI:  Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Tuesday that Pakistan is committed to support peace and stability in Afghanistan.

During an interview with a Turkish Newspaper, he said that Pakistan holds close relations with Afghanistan since three decades.

“The depth of our relationship and our commitment to Afghanistan’s future can be ascertained by the fact that some 28,000 Afghans educated in Pakistan in the past three decades are serving in Afghanistan in the public as well as private sectors or abroad,” he told today’s Zaman Newspaper.

Gilani also said that Afghanistan is currently facing many problems therefore, an instant stability is not possible, however, he is hopeful for peace to come about in Afghanistan.

In the interview, the PM also shared his views on Pakistan’s relations with Turkey, saying Pakistan takes great pride in its fraternal relationship with Turkey.
