KARACHI: Musharraf wants to become ruler for life: JI
KARACHI, Sept 25: Jamaat-i-Islami Deputy Chief Prof Ghafoor Ahmad has stated that General Pervez Musharraf, despite possessing all powers for three years, has failed to honour his commitment and is now attempting to acquire more powers to become ruler for life.
Referring to the support extended by the people to the MQM, he said that in return, the miseries and grief of Karachiites were multiplied, and the city was given the gifts of extortion and terrorism.
Prof Ghafoor Ahmad, who is also a central leader of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, was addressing an election meeting in New Karachi Sector-5 for the MMA candidate from NA-244 Dr Mairaj-ul-Huda Siddiqui. Others who spoke on the occasion were candidates from NA-247 Hafiz Taqi, NA-243 Salimullah Qureshi, PS-100 Abdul Baqi and Nasir Rizwan from PS-99.
He said that the organization formed in the name of the rights of Mohajirs failed to deliver to Karachiites, and the youth of Karachi were called terrorists, were alienated from learning and handed klashinakovs. “Brothers were pit against brothers, and hundreds of mothers, sisters and daughters became victims of hatred politics.”
The JI leader said the people of Karachi did not want to return to that dark period and were in search of peace, progress and prosperity. The MMA, could resolve the problems of Karachiites and relieve them of their miseries.
Appealing to people to vote for candidates of MMA by stamping the ‘book’ to reject the politics of extortion and hatred, Prof Ghafoor said that the day of October 10 was not just another day, but the day of decision to begin a new era under the banner of MMA.
Dr Mairaj said the MMA, after coming to power, would do away with the VIP culture. He said the military rulers had pushed the country to the wall, and all institutions were on the verge of collapse and KESC losses had multiplied.
