Driver killed in attack on Nato vehicle

MARDAN/KOHAT, Dec 2: The driver of a trailer, carrying a ten-wheeler vehicle to Nato forces in Afghanistan, was killed when unidentified persons attacked it here on Thursday.

Police said that the incident occurred near Sukai village on Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway in the limits of Toru police station in Mardan district.

The killed driver was identified as Nimatullah, a resident of Mianwali.

Meanwhile, the upper story of a commercial bank was damaged when fire erupted in it on Thursday. Officials said that the fire was caused by short circuit in the tower of a cellular phone company installed on the rooftop of the Allied Bank building.

Meanwhile, militants attacked a police mobile vehicle in Mamokhwra area while an explosive device planted under a bridge was defused by bomb disposal squad in Hangu on Thursday.

A vehicle of Thall police was patrolling Mamokhwara area when it was targeted with a four-kilogram heavy remote controlled explosive device.

Police said that the vehicle was damaged but the policemen remained unhurt.
