Two arrested, Hashish, weapons recovered

SUKKUR, Nov 30: The excise police have arrested two persons and recovered arms, ammunition and a huge quantity of Hashish here on Tuesday.

A truck standing at roadside hotel on Sukur-Shikarpur road was raided and Umer Shah and Jahanzeb Pathan, belonging to Khyber-Pakhunkhwa were arrested, said Director Excise Department, Sukkur, Ahmed Ali Solangi.

They broke down during interrogation and confessed of having smuggled in arms and ammunition and a huge quantity of Hashish.

The excise police recovered 12 automatic rifles, 40 magazines, 3,500 rifle rounds and 42 kilograms of Hashish.

The excise official said that a thorough investigation was gong on to know whether the arrested accused were suppliers or had planned a terrorist attack in Sukkur during presence of the prime minister here.

No case had been registered against the accused by the city or excise police till our going to the press.
