Four suspects held for theft at MNA`s house

LAHORE, Nov 29: The Defence-B investigation police have taken into custody four suspects, including a locksmith, following registration of a case against thieves who had taken away cash, gold jewellery and valuables worth Rs2.5 million from the DHA’s 270-R residence of PML-N MNA Khwaja Muhammad Asif at around 8pm on Friday.

Defence Circle ASP Maroof Safdar told Dawn the police took into custody two employees of the family, a neighbour and a locksmith, in the case registered on the complaint of MNA’s son Khwaja Asad on Saturday.

About suspicion over the locksmith, he said a handbag containing jewellery and cash was kept under lock and key in the dressing table of a bedroom. The suspect was called to repair the lock of the same dressing table a couple of days before the Friday’s incident.

Everything in the room was lying ‘untouched’ except the said portion of the dressing table which showed that the thieve(s) knew where exactly the valuables were placed.

The thieve(s) took away nothing from any other portion of the room or house, the ASP said adding that the family members of the MNA were present at their residence at the time of theft but came to know about it a few hours later.

The ASP said initial investigation revealed that the suspect(s) had entered the house through washroom’s sliding window.
