Property dispute claims youth`s life

LAHORE, Nov 29: A 17-year-old youth was shot dead by three armed men over a property dispute in Nishtar Colony on Monday.

Reports said Safdar, a resident of Dalu Kalan, had differences with locals Saleem, Waseem and Manshah over the ownership of a plot.

On Monday, the two parties exchanged hot words over the issue. Saleem and his accomplices opened fire as a result of which Safdar’s son Imran received multiple injuries and was rushed to General Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The assailants fled the scene.

The police shifted the body to the city morgue for autopsy and registered a case against the three suspects on the complaint of Safdar with no arrest so far.

GIRL DIES: A four-year-old girl was killed when she fell into a pot of hot water in the Bhati Gate area here on Monday.

Reports said Tahira was playing in the courtyard of her house when suddenly she fell into a pot of hot water. She receivedcritical burns and died while being taken to hospital.

The police handed over the body to her parents without autopsy.

NH&MP: National Highways and Motorways Police officials on Monday found a handbag containing gold jewellery and othervaluables worth Rs300,000 from a road and handed it over to the owner.

According to a press release, the NH&MP officials were patrolling on the national highways near Sahiwal when they found the bag carrying jewellery, a cell phone, a notebook and other valuables.

The patrolling officials traced the cell phone number of the bag owner later identified as Imran from the notebook. The bag was later handed over to Imran.

Meanwhile, NH&MP officers claim to have arrested four suspects -- Zulfiqar Ali, Javed Iqbal, Naseer and Shakeel -- for their alleged involvement in robberies on national highways.

The NH&MP patrolling officers also foiled a dacoity attempt on the motorway.
